Cory J. Mickels is an associate practicing law in the areas of product liability, toxic tort, and trucking and transportation. Prior to passing the California state bar, Cory gained professional experience in three law clerk positions. At a San Francisco law firm, he was responsible for drafting motions and complaints for wage & hour class actions, mass tort, wrongful death, and product liability cases; and serving as a point person for the 2017 Napa fire class action lawsuit. Previously, he worked on employment, tort, and probate issues as a clerk at Open Door Legal, an award-winning non-profit dedicated to creating universal access to legal representation. Prior to that, Cory worked in the Office of the San Francisco City Attorney where he second chaired depositions for workers' compensation and labor employment cases.
Cory is a second-generation San Franciscan who earned his J.D. in May of 2018 from the USF School of Law and achieved recognition for curricular concentration in employment, business, and commercial law. He also holds a B.A. in political science from San Francisco State University, where he was named to the Dean's List in 2013 and 2014. Cory has volunteered in his hometown at the Shekinah Christian Fellowship as a sound technician, for the SF Police Commissioner as a member of the research staff, and as a student fellow at the Investor Justice Clinic handling corporate formation and FINRA disputes. In addition to his educational and professional accomplishments, Cory is an avid Bay Area sports fan, a formidable chess opponent, and a keen film aficionado.
