San Francisco – Experienced Trial Attorney

Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum, an AV-rated 25-attorney complex litigation defense firm with a strong track record of success, seeks an experienced trial attorney. The successful candidate will be a defense attorney with 7-10 years of litigation experience with a strong track record for achieving successful outcomes defending his/her clients against complex claims. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft compelling motions, oversee discovery, adeptly handle depositions, manage experts, make court appearances, prepare for trial, try cases, and communicate regularly and effectively with clients.
  • Enter billable time into computer on a daily basis.
  • Meet the firm's minimum billing requirement, which is not reduced by any paid or unpaid time off, mandatory training, or the performance of any non-billable functions. Such time off, training, or performance of non-billable functions are not counted toward the minimum billing requirement.
  • Ensure all functions are performed in exact accordance with applicable client guidelines available on the firm Intranet.
  • Assist with collections are key components for achieving success in this role.
  • Must be willing and able to try cases throughout the state of California.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Specialized knowledge of business litigation, environmental law, product liability, toxic tort, or some combination of these practice areas.
  • First chair trial experience trying complex cases to verdict, as well as the ability to obtain greatly reduced settlement amounts, are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the complex litigation landscape throughout California.
  • Must possess excellent academic, writing, technology, and communication skills.
  • Business development acumen and a book of business are greatly preferred.
  • Manages staff and colleagues in a collegial and professional manner.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Experience using client relationship management (CRM) software and facility with sophisticated case management technology preferred.
