Partner Megumi Horiuchi specializes in construction defect litigation.  She defends general contractors and subcontractors against a wide range of construction disputes, such as allegations of defective work, defective design, delay claims, and disputes over payment and indemnity.  She litigates complex construction defect claims involving almost every type of building system or defect in both commercial and residential buildings, such as roofing, water intrusion, mold, design and construction of foundations and structural elements, soils subsidence, geotechnical issues, soils compaction, installation of synthetic stucco, curtain wall and window wall systems, painting and wall covering, heating, ventilation, mechanical systems, electrical systems, stairways and stairwells, and landscaping.

Megumi earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2004, where she was the Senior Note & Comment Editor for the school’s International & Comparative Law Review.  In 2000, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from UCLA.  Megumi keeps herself informed about emerging trends in construction law and commercial litigation through professional affiliations with the Women’s Construction Litigation Alliance and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.
